The Death Net This 30-to-40-foot-long by more than 7-foot-wide net blocked the Fox Island channel; the crab trap in which it was tangled is in foreground right, a buoy line is coiled on the left. U-shaped iron bolts, which held the netting in place over the grant, were still appended to the edges. Suspended by the trap and the rope at each end, and stretched taut by tidal currents, this net formed a perfect seine to trap sluggish turtles.
