Following a weekend storm (April 8–9) that sported gusts of over 50 mph and seas to match, a young lad discovered three diamondback terrapin carcasses entangled in the storm-tossed wrack north of Round Island. The tiniest was a one-year-old hatchling who weighed half an ounce (14 grams) and was less than 2 inches long. The second was a three-year-old juvenile and the third was a large, 12-year-old female. The baby was fully intact, but the latter two both had missing left forelimbs.
